Welcome
Leading Edge 2004:
The Working Biosphere was the sixth in a series of conferences
started in 1994. The Niagara
Escarpment Commission organizes this biennial environmental
conference in association with Ontario's Ministry
of Natural Resources and the Ontario
Heritage Foundation to showcase recent or proposed activities
for sustainable communities, research, monitoring and conservation
on Ontario's Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
These proceedings include summaries of
the conference's two workshops and more than 40 paper presentations
exploring the conference's interrelated themes of: communities
in action; scientific research, environmental monitoring and conservation
projects; and demonstrations of sustainable
development.
All the papers and summaries are available
in Adobe PDF format. (Depending on the settings of your Acrobat
Reader software you may be asked if you would like to save the document,
in which case you can then open the file once it is saved on your
hard drive).
If you don't have the free Adobe Reader
plug-in, it is available as a download from the Adobe
Website.
