Paper & Poster Presentations

Leading Edge 2001: Focus on the Biosphere brought together more than 200 participants and provided a forum for exchange of ideas.

Of the conference's many highlights were the more than 50 paper presentations that took place on the Thursday, as well as the poster displays that were showcased at the Opening Reception.

The paper and poster presentations explored three interrelated themes:

• Communities in action;
• Scientific research, environmental monitoring and conservation projects; and,
• Demonstrations of sustainable development.

The success of the presenters is illustrated in these proceedings as their research, findings, discussions and conclusions are included here in papers for future use.
