Conference Purpose and Overview:

Don Scott, Chair, Niagara Escarpment Commission

Keynote Address:

Dr. Roger E. Soles, Regional Portfolio Officer for Science and Technology Cooperation in the Western Hemisphere at the U.S. Department of State, and former Executive Director of the U.S. Man and the Biosphere Program for more than 18 years. Dr. Soles discusses Biosphere Reserves and their potential roles in sustaining the Earth's Ecosystems.

Concurrent Paper Presentations:
Up to 50 Paper Presentations featuring the most current research from a wide variety of experts.


DAY THREE - Friday, October 19, 2001

Keynote Address:

The Honorable Gilbert Parent, Canada's Ambassador for the Environment, discusses the challenges and future of protecting the environment.

Panel Discussion:

Learning from Canada's Biosphere Reserves featuring representatives from our country's biosphere reserves.

Conference Wrap-up:

Paul Zorn, Regional Conservation Biologist with the Ontario Region of Parks Canada, concludes Leading Edge 2001 with a summary of the conference and a discussion of future actions.
