Ontario's Niagara Escarpment.
Yours to explore and enjoy

Scuba DivingA Message from the Director

Welcome to Ontario's Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

The Niagara Escarpment is one of Canada's most significant landforms. It is cherished for its natural environment and praised for being a working example of sustainable development.

Thanks for visiting our website. It's now easier than ever to learn about the Escarpment and the Niagara Escarpment Plan and to do business with the Niagara Escarpment Commission.

We've enhanced the "Permits/Applications" web section with the addition of two Searchable databases. Visitors can search for all plan amendments and outstanding plan amendment applications with the Plan Amendments Database. The Development Permits Database allows users to search the status of development permit applications. The database includes files backdated to January 1, 2000; however, some staff reports may not be available at this time.

The Niagara Escarpment Commission is pleased to announce the dates and location for Leading Edge 2004. The conference will take place March 3 - 5, 2004 at the Quality Hotel Parkway and Convention Centre in St. Catharines. The conference showcases recent or proposed activities for sustainable communities, research, monitoring and conservation. To find out more about Leading Edge 2004, and to view the Conference Proceedings from Leading Edge 2001: Focus on the Biosphere, visit the Leading Edge web section.

Sincerely,

Mark Frawley,
Director, Niagara Escarpment Commission
