Event of the Month - May, 2008

Blossom Hikes

Hike Details
Starting at the Niagara Fruit Education Centre, the group will car pool to Puddicombe Estate Farms and Winery, climb the escarpment to the Bruce Trail, hike west to the E.D. Smith Fruit Farms, down the escarpment through the beautiful cherry blossoms, returning to the Centre. Displays in the Centre will include information about the Bruce Trail, the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere and the Niagara tender fruit region. There are many colourful exhibits about growing, soil and climate, health benefits, storing and the history of fruit growing in Niagara. Do you know why the tender fruits, such as peaches, cherries, apricots, plums and grapes can grow in the peninsula? Or what creates the micro climate? Do you know which fruit trees have pink blossoms? Come in and explore!
