Title - Travel Ontario's Niagara Escarpment

City of Hamilton

Swimming Area - ChristieOntario's Niagara Escarpment is a powerful presence as it winds its way through the City of Hamilton (link to an external site), formerly the Region of Hamilton-Wentworth. The City of Hamilton is home to six bustling and diverse communities that just recently came together to form one city.

Better known locally as "the mountain", the Escarpment's impact on the history and development of this diverse region has been enormous.

Hamilton is the vital industrial and cultural hub, but there is a quieter side here too.

Miles of hiking and ski trails wind through scenic woodlands and unspoiled natural areas. There are enchanting waterfalls to discover, wide vistas and reminders from the area's rich and fascinating past.

The 13 Escarpment parks of the City of Hamilton are part of a system of more than 117 parks strung like jewels along the rocky ridge of the Niagara Escarpment.

The city and picturesque towns surrounding Hamilton are always nearby and they too have their own charm. Browse through antique or craft shops, have a relaxing meal in a rustic inn, take a tour of historic Dundurn Castle or visit the famous Royal Botanical Gardens.

For more information about parks in the area, visit the NEC's Parks in the City of Hamilton webpage or visit the City of Hamilton's "Park Information" webpage.
